Turn off Broadway in downtown Green Bay and step into an alley behind the old Titletown Brewing Company. What greets you isn't the usual urban back-of-house — it's a 40-foot portrait of a Oneida elder, rendered in photorealistic detail across three stories of brick.
The Alley Project
Green Bay's mural movement started informally in 2022, when artist Dex Morales painted a single wall without permission. Instead of a fine, he received a commission. Three years later, the Green Bay Alley Arts Project encompasses over sixty murals across downtown, making it one of the largest public art installations in the Midwest.
Stories on Walls
The murals aren't decorative — they're documentary. Each one tells a story rooted in the community: the paper mill workers who built the city, the Oneida Nation whose land it stands on, the immigrant families who shaped its culture.
